Karen and I have been friends since she moved from Carmi to Bartonville in grade school. She has always been a dear friend, and I was blessed to be a bridesmaid in her wedding in 1968 as she was in my wedding, also in 1968. She had such a good heart and always had a cheerful and caring attitude. I knew I could trust her and could always rely on her to lovingly welcome me. She was a strong and courageous woman. Karen, I will miss you, my friend. I extend sincere sympathy to Karen's husband, mother, son and all other loved ones. May God comfort you in your sorrow.

Karen and I both worked as L.P.N.'s at Proctor. I worked in O.B. and she worked in Pediatrics. she was one of the best nurses I knew. When my daughter, Amy, came in with a 105 degree temp. @ 18 months old, I truly believe, Karen, saved her life. Amy had a very severe case of bronchitis and Karen personally helped sponge her down and got her into the "fog" room which was used back in 1975 for kids with upper respiratory conditions.
Karen took such excellent care of so many children. I remember writing a story about her and a little boy named Andy who had many medical problems. It was published in the ECHO which was Proctor's monthly paper at the time. She was such an asset to that hospital. I doubt if they realized it at the time but Karen was the best nurse that the Ped.'s department had.
No matter what your title is in the medical field, you can contribute if you make a positive difference in the lives of the people you care for. Karen, definitely made a difference in hundreds of lives of children and their families. I was also her neighbor on Margaret street till 1980. She was a class act as a nurse, a neighbor, and a friend.
I am so sorry for your loss but I know Karen is surely looking down upon all of us and comforting the children in Heaven that are waiting for their loved ones to be with them. Take care and God Bless all of you.
Sincerely, Janie Beharelle
